Help Black Rock City Get Off Fossil Fuels!
Burning Man Project, Black Rock City participants, and our global community are boldly advancing our 2030 Environmental Sustainability Roadmap Goals: Handling our Waste Ecologically, Being Regenerative, and Being Carbon Negative!
Since 2022, we’ve powered key BRC infrastructure - including the Man, Temple, and Center Camp- with solar energy. Through our Net Zero BRC initiative, we’ve made significant progress towards eliminating fossil fuel use on playa.
We’ve been testing and deploying mobile solar prototypes, innovative battery technologies, cutting-edge microgrids, and biogenically-derived fuels. We’re also supporting regenerative practices, like diverting more than 278 cubic yards of food waste into compost for local land restoration projects.
This progress has been made possible thanks to a generous donation for the OFF Fossil Fuels program, a donor-funded initiative focused on innovation and measurable impact. We’ve been given a $2.5 million dollar-for-dollar match challenge through 2025—but it’s all or nothing, and we still have over $1.8 million to raise.
With your support, we can accelerate this transformation. Join us in building a regenerative future. Leave No Trace!
