SAVE THE MAN NOW AND HOW

Greetings fellow burners,

With the cancellation of the 2020 event, Burning Man is faced with financial challenges threatening the continuation of the event in the future.

Our camp (Camp Canadianderthal) has spoken directly with Marian Goodell, CEO of Burning Man, about this fundraising initiative. We learned that they are driving towards three broad goals:  1. Save the Man, 2. Green the Man and 3. Bring the Man Home.

As of a few weeks ago, Burning Man was ~$500k short of the $1.5M needed to be able to host the event in 2021 (and achieve the ‘Save the Man’ goal). Failure to have a 2021 event is expected to deepen the financial challenges to a level where the ability to ever host the event in the future would be severely jeopardized.

Burning Man has been a transformative experience for many of us and an important reminder and example of a possible way people can live together in the world. Try to remember the feeling you had the moment you hit the esplanade on your first ever ride out on the playa (close your eyes and try!), how you felt those first few days after your first burn, and how your views about the possibilities of living together may have changed.

Please join us in helping make sure Burning Man lives on. There are two things you can do to help:

1. Donate

2. Forward this email to every burner and non-burner you know who might be interested in helping.

Burning Man has stated the donation deadline is Saturday, Oct 31. Though we suspect they may extend the deadline as donations roll in, we ask that you please act this week if possible.

Thank you and much love,

Ben Jammin & Noah Zark
