OUR MISSION: Accelerant is a series of salons inspired by the 10 Principles of Burning Man created by the campmates from Celestial Bodies. Accelerant strives to create an inclusive online experience that invites artists, thinkers, and makers to engage with a respectful audience in an effort to ignite conversation and inspiration to make our world the best place it can be. We require anyone participating to commit to our Code of Conduct (see addendum)
WHO: Accelerant is created and managed by the campmates from Celestial Bodies. There is a formal Board of Celestialites made up of campmates past and present. We are open to welcoming non-campmates onto the Board of Celestialistes after a careful vetting process. See FAQ for more details. We are committed to providing a welcoming, harassment-free environment for all participants regardless of audience size from 5 to 5000.
WHAT: Accelerant is a once-a-month Salon featuring a unique theme and speakers who present thought-leadership in the first hour around that theme for discussion and debate with a respectful audience. Then a second hour features a world-class DJ and an invitation for everyone to dance!
WHEN: Accelerant is one Sunday every month at 2pm PT.
WHERE: Accelerant is available online (desktop and mobile) using multiple technology platforms for audience participation: Zoom, YouTube, Twitch, Facebook Live, AltSpaceVR (BRCvr), SparkleVerse, Multiverse and others will be continually added.
WHY: We believe Burning Man is not one week in a desert, but a culture that can be shared year-round across the globe. The Multiverse 2020 Burn ignited our creative and managerial skills. But the Burn was not completely radically inclusive. So, our campmates took the interactivity of the 2020 Burn and devised a technological solution to include anyone anywhere on any device. HOW: We are combining tools like OBS and Restream.io to enable anyone with an internet connection or phone to participate in Accelerant. They can use their phone, mobile device, a desktop browser, or even a VR headset. We are available to speak with anyone interested in learning the technical tools and methods we are using to create the experience.
